Frequently Asked Questions
What is a zine?A zine is a fan-made, unofficial booklet that contains art and written works based around a specific series, theme, or ship.
Why a PRIDE zine?As current times have shown, it can be difficult to be accepted by peers, loved ones, and those we feel the closest to. PRIDE means something different to everyone, and we want to celebrate those differences and the similarities while organizing an event around characters we all love!
Will this zine allow minors? No, applicants will have to be 18 years of age or older at the time of applications closing to have their applications reviewed. If any contributor is found to have falsified their age during the project, they will be removed from the Discord server and the zine.
Do applicants need to have prior zine experience? No, no zine experience is required! We do ask that every applicant read the guidelines carefully to ensure they are submitting pieces that adhere to the rules posted here and on our application form.
Will applications be blind?Applications will not be blind, as social media profiles with ages stated will be required to apply. However, applicants will not be judged for the works that they create outside of the samples and potential portfolio they submit, nor will they be chosen based on their follower count.
Will there be a restriction on characters that will be allowed? No, all characters and of-age/aged-up pairings will be allowed!
Will this zine allow AUs?Yes, the more the merrier! We want to see queer characters in all walks of life and in every setting!
What type of content won't be allowed?Due to the nature of the zine, the goal to have it be physical and shipped to as many locations as possible, we will not be allowing Dead Dove content in the SFW physical zine or the NSFW digital zine.
If the zine is physical, what are you doing about the current tariff situation in the US? Are the zines going to be shipped from the US?Yes, the physical zine content will be shipped from the US if we get enough responses to go physical. Currently, we are looking into a variety of manufacturers that are less heavily affected by the tariffs to ensure most consumers will be not charged post-shipping should the tariff situation go back to the same standing it was earlier this year. We want to keep this project as affordable as we can for anyone that wants to support it while also delivering a variety of items for many BNHA fans to enjoy.
How will contributors be compensated? We are hoping to compensate every contributor with at least a full physical bundle and all stretch goals! Otherwise, we will be using the interest check to ask what finance model those interested would prefer.
Who is the finance mod? What experience do they have?Jay, the head mod, is the finance mod for this project with the support of Saint, the merch and graphics mod. Jay has experience in accounting & budgeting outside of fandom, and Saint had run her own shop for 2 years.
Are any of the mods queer?
Yes, all of the mods are queer! Please check the mods page for more information on everyone!

Guidelines
Application link will be at the end of the Applications page here! Please read carefully and ensure that you fill out the form correctly. Every creator will receive an email informing them of whether or not they were accepted, but we will not be able to offer portfolio feedback.
The theme of this zine is Pride and all of its facets. For this purpose, every contributor accepted is expected to create at least one piece surrounding BNHA characters and Pride, whether this is an introspective piece about a character learning that they are aromantic; friends or partners administering hormones for one another; queerplatonic relationships between characters; romance through a queer lens; or any other queer experience. There is no "wrong way" to be queer, and we want to encourage every applicant to apply with their best works that they think showcases queer experiences and how they differ from one person to another.
Page Artists - All page art must be A5 at 300 DPI. Single page, two-page spread, and 1-4 page comics will be available as creation options.
Merch Artists - The merch that will be created will be decided upon by the interest check results. All pieces are required to follow the specifications given.
Spot Artists - All spot art will be decided upon between the spot artist and their assigned writer.
Writers - Written pieces in the physical SFW zine will be 2,000 - 3,000 words with a +/-500-word leeway). Written pieces in the digital NSFW add-on will be 3,000 - 4,000 words. A formatting guide will be provided prior to pitches being assigned.
Alternative Creators - 1 piece that will use 1 - 2 A5-size pages.
Applicants are welcome to apply for more than one role, however we will only be able to offer creators 2 roles at most, regardless of if the roles are similar or not.
There will be a digital-only NSFW add-on that contributors can choose to create for, however it is not required. Due to the nature of purchasing laws in many countries, we will not be able to allow Dead Dove content in either the SFW physical zine or the NSFW digital side zine. This content includes the following: loli and/or shota content, underage NSFW, noncon, omorashi, and scat. No creator's application will be negatively affected if such content is created outside of this project.
We as moderators will also not tolerate harassment nor will we endorse censorship of any kind. We do not believe that fiction is a direct mirror to reality, and we do believe that creators have the right to create what they please. Similarly, we as moderators will not tolerate character or ship bashing of any kind. Every person has the right to like or dislike what they please within the bounds of fiction. We ask that contributors come to moderators with any issues they may have, and we will assist however we can.
Plagarism and/or the use of generative AI is strictly prohibited in this project, and anyone found to be doing so will be removed from the project and Discord server. Any works found to be created through either of these means or similar ones will not be in the final zine(s) or sold as merch.
Every creator will be required to adhere to the schedule here. If any extensions are needed, we ask that creators inform the moderators prior to the check-in closing. Any creator that does not respond when the check-in window closes and did not request an extension will be pinged in their private channels. Upon 24 hours of no response from a ping in the server, a mod will reach out to them via DM. If no response is received within 48 hours of the check-in window closing, any unresponsive creators will be removed from the project barring any extenuating circumstances.
All creators: Every creator will be required to work with the moderators throughout the project. We understand that every person's creative process is different, and we encourage all contributors to reach out to the moderators if any help is needed. During check-ins 1 - 4, moderators will be checking in with the creators that requested feedback when completing the check-in form. During the final check-in, moderators will be checking in with every creator. Thus, every creator will need to outline what they need feedback on for the final check-in. The final check-in is not the final submission, and creators will have a week between final check-in and submission to make adjustments and finalize their piece(s).
